    For our next BT Academy Episode (69) Michael Tran, BT Technical Consultant, will be presenting "Indexation considerations and preparation" on Wednesday 15 February 2023.

    The general transfer balance cap is earmarked to index from 1 July 2023 to $1.9 million after the Australian Bureau of Statistics published inflation numbers on the 25th of January. While Government may yet legislate to amend this or even freeze the cap, this presentation analyses various considerations advisers can think about for their clients in anticipation of the change. This includes a review of:

    • Which thresholds may and may not be indexed
    • How to determine a client’s personal transfer balance cap after the indexation
    • Commencing retirement phase pensions before or waiting after the change
    • Making contributions now or waiting after the change
