US Federal Reserve hikes rates

This week the US Federal Reserve hiked rates for the first time since 2018. The move came as no surprise. In the US, inflation is running red hot, the jobs market is tight and wages are growing strongly.

We think it won’t be long before the Reserve Bank of Australia follows suit.

However, the devastating war in Ukraine complicates the picture for policymakers as they balance supporting economic growth and taming inflation.
