RBA Faces Showdown with Markets

Investors are becoming increasingly worried that growing inflationary pressures will force the Reserve Bank to hike the cash rate sooner than previously expected. 

Yesterday, a hotter-than-expected reading on a key inflation metric added fuel to the fire. Markets are now expecting the first cash rate hike around the middle of next year. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank maintains the cash rate won’t increase until at least 2024.
