Flexible investment options

You can choose how your super is invested. We can invest your super based on your age and automatically adjust it to a more conservative asset mix as you get older, or you can choose your own investment mix.

Option 1

Let us invest your super for you

We'll do the hard work and invest your super based on your age in a MySuper Lifestage Fund. A Lifestage Fund is a well-diversified portfolio of assets designed and managed according to your age. Over time, the fund will gradually shift to a more conservative asset mix by decreasing its allocation to growth assets and increasing its allocation to conservative assets.

Option 2

Choose your own investment mix

If you prefer to choose your own investment mix, you can select from a range of investment options: Growth, Moderate, Conservative and Super Cash.

Know how your super is performing

To make sure you know how your super is performing, check out the latest factsheets for your investment options. You'll see how the fund is invested, how it's performed, along with a summary of what's happened in the markets and the impact on your investment.

Competitive fees

We work hard to give your super the best chance to grow. No commissions, withdrawal or contribution fees could mean more money in your super account.

We help you find your lost super

If you’ve changed jobs, done casual or part-time work, moved house or changed your name, then you could be one of the many Australians who have lost super waiting to be found.

How can BT help you find lost super?

  • Open an account, if you don’t already have one – simply apply online with a single form and a couple of clicks, and your Super for Life account will be up and running in just a few minutes.

  • We find - as soon as you’ve opened your account, we’ll get to work on finding any super accounts you may have lost track of along the way. You don’t have to lift a finger, just give us your TFN and consent and our BT super specialists will do the work.

After we’ve tracked down your super, we can help you transfer it into your Super for Life account, if you decide to do so. Once we’ve got the process underway, all you’ll need to do is either 1) jump online and confirm which funds you wish to combine or 2) we’ll send you out the paperwork and all you need to do is sign them and return them to us.

Another way to find your lost super is using the ATO SuperSeeker Service.

Insurance cover

There are two insurance options available to eligible members of BT Super for Life; Standard cover or Customised cover.

Standard cover

Eligible members will automatically receive Standard cover when they open a BTSFL account – this provides insurance cover for Death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance. There is no need to complete medical checks or submit any forms. The amount of insurance cover is based on the member’s age, and the cost of the insurance cover is based on both the member’s age and gender.

NOTE: Please be advised that this insurance cover, and the payment of an eligible insurance claim, is subject to a Pre-existing condition clause (PEC).

Customised cover

An eligible member can apply for up to three insurance options based on a combination of Death Only, Death and Total and Permanent Disablement, plus Salary Continuance Insurance cover (sometimes referred to as Income Protection insurance). The member is given flexibility regarding the amount of insurance cover they can apply for, however approval is not guaranteed and is dependent on the results of a medical assessment. The cost of the insurance cover will be based on the member’s age, occupation, gender, smoker status, pastimes and pursuits and the type and amount of cover requested.

There is no charge for accepting any rollovers, however before requesting the rollover, you should consider where your future employer contribution will be paid (if your employer contributions are currently being paid to another fund) and check with your other fund/s to determine whether there are any exit or withdrawal fees for moving your benefit, or other loss of benefits (eg insurance cover) noting that you may not receive the same type or level of benefits after the rollover.
