BT Investment Solutions - Bolstering BT's investments business

BT Financial Group today announced the launch of ‘BT Investment Solutions’ which brings together the diverse investment capabilities across BT Financial Group, including Advance Asset Management, equities, Westpac Online Investing and BT’s in-house advice model portfolio construction team - eQR.

General Manager Investments and Insurance, BT Financial Group, David Lees, said BT Investment Solutions has assembled a talented team creating a centre of investment excellence to benefit investors.

BT Financial Group’s boutique investment business Ascalon will continue to operate alongside BT Investment Solutions while the existing partnership with BT Investment Management remains unchanged.

BT Investment Solutions will be led by David Lees and will be structured around four core functions: chief investment office, investment product solutions, investment distribution and a chief operating office with the following senior leadership team:

  • Patrick Farrell has been appointed chief investment officer, and continues to oversee the strategic growth of all investment funds.
  • Rodney Greenhalgh, BT’s head of retirement, will be acting head of investment product solutions and will manage key equity and fund solutions, delivery of direct investments products and the development of solutions to the retirement and SMSF segments.
  • Anthony Lane has been appointed chief operating officer. He joins BT Financial Group having previously been global operating officer for Mercer’s investment business based in London. Mr Lane will lead the delivery of all key operational capability activities, strategic planning, risk control and reporting and project management across investments.

Michaela McGlinn has been appointed head of investment distribution and will focus on the management of key intermediate sale teams, development of direct and institutional sales teams and the management of key research houses. Ms McGlinn’s is moving from her current role as head of corporate super distribution, BT Financial Group.

“I am delighted with this impeccable line-up of talent, who with their expertise and proven track-records will guide BT Investment Solutions,” Mr Lees said.

“This alignment of our key investment capabilities will serve to bolster the development of service and product solutions for our customers and drive greater outcomes for shareholders.”
