We’re here to help our customers who are suffering hardship as a result of the recent natural disasters. We’re offering Bushfire and Drought Assistance Packages which provide a premium waiver period of 3 months for eligible life insurance customers.

Bushfire Assistance Package for our life insurance customers

What assistance can I get?

To assist our life insurance customers adversely impacted by the 2019–2020 bushfires we are offering a Bushfire Assistance Package which provides a premium waiver period of 3 months for eligible life insurance policies. Cover will continue on the policies during the premium waiver period under this package.

Our claims team want to support you during this time and can provide additional support with your new or ongoing claim by making advanced payments of your benefit and helping to gather any necessary claim requirements.

When can I apply?

Eligible policy holders can apply for this assistance from 1 November 2019 until 30 June 2020.

How do I apply?

Terms and Conditions for Bushfire Assistance Package

The Bushfire Assistance Package is available for our life insurance customers until 30 June 2020. 

Eligible life insurance policy holders will receive a 3 month premium waiver at policy next payment date.  

Cover will continue while premiums are being waived under this package.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the 3 month premium waiver, customers must: 

  • hold an active life insurance policy (including policies held within superannuation) with risk commencement date prior to 30 November 2019, and
  • must provide evidence of having been approved for or receiving any ONE of the following Government payments for the 2019–2020 Bushfire disasters:
    • Australian Government Bushfire Disaster Recovery Allowance/Payment, or
    • State Government Bushfire Disaster Assistance, such as:
      • Government Disaster Relief Grant 
      • Emergency Assistance Payment 
      • Emergency Temporary Accommodation
      • Personal Hardship Emergency Grant.

Policy holders who do not meet the criteria above are encouraged to contact us for a special consideration of their circumstances. 

Once satisfactory evidence is received we will apply the premium waiver on the policy and provide you with confirmation.

Additionally, specialised claims services will be available for eligible customers.

Drought Assistance Package

What assistance can I get?

From Jan – Sep 2019, the Protection Plans Drought Assistance Package was offered to eligible farmers in NSW and QLD holding Protection Plans life insurance. 

Offer extended: Effective 1 Dec 2019, due to the impact of the ongoing drought, this package is being re-launched across all of Australia. 

The purpose of the Protection Plans Drought Assistance Package is to offer premium relief to farmers while helping them maintain their existing life insurance policy. Eligible Protection Plans policyholders will receive a 3 month premium waiver on all policies, including those in super. Policies will continue to provide cover while premiums are being waived.  

When can I apply?

Eligible Protection Plans policy holders can apply for this assistance between 1 Dec 2019 – 30 June 2020.

Terms and Conditions for Protection Plans Drought Assistance Package

To access the Protection Plans Drought Assistance Package, please contact your financial adviser or contact us directly by phoning the Customer Relations team on 1300 553 764.

We will apply a 3-month premium waiver to Protection Plans policies that meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  1. Existing retail Protection Plans policies with Risk commencement date prior to 30 November 2019 (including policies funded through superannuation)

  2. Policy owner/life insured must hold the occupation of farmer

  3. Must provide evidence of drought impact (either a letter or email) showing approval or receipt of any ONE of the below Government assistance payments: 

    a) Federal Government – Farm Household Allowance, or
    b) State Government – Drought Relief assistance, subsidy, grant, fund or rebate.

Once satisfactory evidence is received we will apply the premium waiver at next premium payment date and provide confirmation. 

Additionally, specialised claims services will be available for eligible customers, similar to those provided during financial hardship claim cases.
