How long do I have to set up details of new starters?
If you welcome a new employee, or an existing employee’s circumstances change, you can add or amend employee details on BT Online Employer.
Setting a new starter up on BTOE allows BT to send your new employee a welcome kit, but more importantly, if a new employee is eligible for Automatic Acceptance in relation to insurance cover, it is important to send us their complete membership details within 120 days of them commencing employment, otherwise they will be required to be underwritten. The simplest and quickest way to do this is through BTOE.
-
Why should I check my employee’s details and how often should I do this?
Keeping your employee’s details up to date means BT always has their correct address if we need to contact them. This is especially important for Annual Statements which are sent out in the second half of the year. Employees with salary based insurance need to have the correct salary details provided to BT. If their details aren’t up to date they – or their beneficiaries – may not receive the appropriate insurance payout in the event of death or injury. So, it’s essential to check and update employee details prior to 30 June each year. Some employers find it helpful to make periodic checks, such as bi-annually or quarterly.
