Margin Loan Comparison Calculator - step-by-step guide
The Margin Loan Comparison Calculator helps you work out which BT Margin Loan suits you best.
Step 1:
Enter the following loan details into section 1 ("Enter your loan details" section):
- Your average monthly loan balance in the "Loan balance" field. You will find this information on your last statement, or you can login to check your investments online.
- Your typical monthly number of transactions* in the "Number of transactions per month" field. You will find this information on your monthly statements. A transaction is defined as any of the following: CHESS purchase; CHESS release; CHESS sale; CHESS transfer; Cash advance; Managed Fund application and redemption.
Step 2:
In the "Compare the cost of the two BT Margin Loans available" section, check that:
- The BT Margin Loan current variable interest rate is 8.40% p.a. You can change this rate if you are currently on a different rate to this or simply want to compare the new BT Margin Lending_Online loan with another Margin Loan. (Note that the latter calculation will not include any transaction fees).
- The "Fee per transaction*" field shows the relevant fee structure
for your loan balance:
- $5 fee per transaction* every month for average monthly loan balances under $20,000.
- The first 5 transactions* are free in one calendar month. It's then $5 per transaction thereafter, where the average monthly loan balance is greater than or equal to $20,000 and less than $250,000.
- Unlimited free transactions for average monthly loan balances over $250,000.
Step 3:
