Where can I get information on my fees?

By law, investment fees have to be clearly explained in the disclosure document of any product you are buying. These documents can usually be found online at the website of the company providing the product. They can also be sent to you free of charge.

The disclosure document must contain all the investment fee information and should generally provide working examples to help you understand the fee structure. If you’re thinking about buying a product and don’t feel comfortable about the way the investment fees are explained you should talk to a financial adviser or planner.

If you already have an investment and you want to keep track of your fees, your annual statement will have all the information you need.

The price of financial advice

Some advisers may directly charge fees for their services. Ask your financial adviser for details up front.

Your financial adviser usually receives a payment or commission from the investment provider when you buy an investment. These fees are generally not an extra cost to you, and you don't avoid a commission fee if you invest in the managed fund directly with the provider.
