What should I consider when making an insurance claim?

There are certain things you may need to do if you have to make a claim. You should consider some of the following:

Get hold of your policy document

Your insurer is likely to refer to your policy document when you contact them. Make sure you have it at hand before you get in touch. The policy document will have all the details about your cover, including whether you are covered for the loss or damage you are claiming for.

Contact your insurer

Get in touch with your insurer as soon as you can. You may be able to make a claim over the phone or you may need to complete a written claim form.

If you wish to make a claim with us, please contact our Customer Relations Consultants on 1300 553 764, 8.00am to 6.30pm (Sydney time) Monday to Friday. Our consultants will arrange for you to receive any information or forms you need.

Keep a record

It’s often easy to forget details so you should write down as much as possible in relation to the circumstances of your claim and as soon as possible after the event. It may be needed at a later date. Any other documents relevant to your claim are also important and you should make sure they are in a safe place.
