What payment options will employers have when using ECHO?
ECHO is only available online through BTOE. BT strongly recommends that employers use Direct Debit arrangements to make payments. The Direct Debit process is quick, and as it utilises straight through processing, it minimises the risk of errors. However, Direct Credit arrangements can be made available on request.

Can employers use ECHO to request contribution payment to any super funds nominated by their employees?
If an employee's nominated super fund accepts super contributions made by way of electronic funds transfer or cheque, the employer will be able to request contribution payment to that super fund using ECHO.
However, if the nominated super fund only accepts contributions directly from employers using a direct debit arrangement, this cannot be established through ECHO. Employers will need to establish a separate direct debit arrangement (ie outside ECHO) with that nominated super fund to make super contributions.
Please note that employers are obliged to follow an employee’s nomination of super fund under Super Choice but only if employers can make contributions to the employee’s nominated super fund.
For example, an employee's nomination must include details about how employers can make contributions to their nominated super fund. If an employee's nomination does not contain all the required information (as specified on the Standard Choice Form) then the employer is not obliged to accept the nomination.
