Security of your information
BT is very serious about the level of security used to protect the information which passes between your computer and BT Funds Management secure web servers. BT Online Employer has a number of security features:
- In order to protect your company information from unauthorised people, BT has registered a security certificate with the Verisign Trust Network which provides you with a secure 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypted connection via Server Gated Cryptography (SGC). Your details will be encrypted when transmitted across the Internet using a high degree of internet security. You will need Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or above.
- BT Online Employer uses an 8 character password. If three unsuccessful attempts have been made to log into BT Online Employer, the account will be locked. If you are logged into BT Online Employer and your session is inactive (for instance if you are called away from your PC or leave your session open accidentally), your session will be automatically closed after 20 minutes of inactivity.
Why do I get timed out?
If you are logged into BT Online Employer but your session is inactive, there is a 20 minute automatic time out for security. So, if a screen is left unattended for more than 20 minutes, you will need to login again and you may lose some work.
